كيف تتخلص من الخطية ؟

قد يبدو لمن أسرتهم لذة الخطية، وقيدتهم أغلال الإثم، أنَّ التخلّص من سلطانها أمر مستحيل. لكنَّ الحقيقة أن علاج مرض الخطية بسيط إذا وضعت خطاياك أمام الله، معتمداً على نعمته الإلهية لا على قوتك البشرية فقط. فالله قادر أن يحررك، لأنه سبق وخلّص كثيرين من قبلك، بشرط أن تلتجئ إليه وتملك دافعاً حقيقياً للتوبة. ولهذا قال القديس أغسطينوس: "إن الله الذي خلقك بدونك، لا يُخلصك بدونك"، فالتوبة اختيار وإرادة.

وإذا تركت الخطية، فلا تتأسّف عليها أو تنظر إلى الوراء؛ وتذكّر امرأة لوط التي نظرت لشهوات الماضي فصارت عمود ملح وعبرة. ولهذا أوصى السيد المسيح مخلع بيت حسدا بعد شفائه قائلاً: « هَا أَنْتَ قد بَرِئْتَ فَلاَ تُخْطِئْ أَيْضاً لِئَلَّا يَكُونَ لَكَ أَشَرُّ » (يوحنا 5: 14).

أولاً: حاسب نفسك « فَرَجَعَ إِلَى نَفْسِهِ وَقَالَ.. » (لوقا 15: 17)

إن أردت التخلص من خطاياك، يجب أولاً أن تجلس مع نفسك لتدرك حالتك وتعرف أخطاءك. اسأل نفسك: ما الذي ربحته من حياة الخطية التي أفنيت فيها صحتك وشبابك؟ اعزم على ترك الشر بكل رضا، وتأكد أن الله سيقويك.

إن الشيطان يرتعب من حوارك الذاتي ويقاومك بكل قوته، لأنه يعلم أنك إذا جلست مع نفسك ستفكر في التوبة وتفلت من قبضته. فالابن الضال، عندما رجع إلى نفسه، أدرك حقيقة فقره وغنى أبيه، وقال: « أَقُومُ وَأَذْهَبُ إِلَى أَبِي وَأَقُولُ لَهُ: يَا أَبِي، أَخْطَأْتُ إِلَى السَّمَاءِ وَقُدَّامَكَ » (لوقا 15: 18). كل الذين تابوا بدأت توبتهم بجلسة انسحاق مع النفس؛ فمن يصالح نفسه تصالحه السماء والأرض. ويضع لنا مار إسحق السرياني محاسبة النفس كقانون دائم بقوله: "إذا هبط علينا روح الإهمال، نجلس بيننا وبين أنفسنا ونجمع أفكارنا، ونميز بدقة ما هو سبب الإهمال ومن أين بدأ؟ لكي نقوّمه".

ثانياً: فكر في نتائج الخطية « لأَنَّ أُجْرَةَ الْخَطِيَّةِ هِيَ مَوْتٌ » (رومية 6: 23)

• لو كان آدم يعلم أن الأكل من الشجرة سيطرده من الجنة، ما كان أكل.
• وقايين لو عرف أن قتل أخيه سيجعله تائهاً ملعوناً في الأرض، ما قتله.
• وجيحزي لو علم أن محبة المال والكذب ستجلب عليه برص نعمان السرياني ونسله، ما ذهب وراءه.

اسأل نفسك بعد كل سقطة: ماذا ربحت وماذا خسرت؟ ستجد أنك خسرت الله الذي تفوق لذته كل شهوة جسدية. الوعود التي تقدمها الخطية مزينة بالخداع، لكن نهايتها بحيرة النار والكبريت. يحكي أحد رجال الأعمال الأغنياء عن نفسه قائلاً: "كنت مشهوراً بعلاقاتي وحياتي النجسة، لكنني لم أشعر بسلام قط؛ عشت في شجار دائم مع زوجتي التي حاولت الانتحار مرتين، وكاد عملي ينهار وخسرت ملايين الدولارات، وعشت يائساً كاليتيم، ولولا تدخل الله لهلكت".

ثالثاً: اهرب من مسببات الخطية « فَتَرَكَ ثَوْبَهُ فِي يَدِهَا وَهَرَبَ » (تكوين 39: 12)

قال الملاك للوط: « اهْرُبْ لِحَيَاتِكَ! لاَ تَنْظُرْ إِلَى وَرَائِكَ » (تكوين 19: 17)، وينصح القديس بولس تلميذه تيموثاوس: « أَمَّا الشَّهَوَاتُ الشَّبَابِيَّةُ فَاهْرُبْ مِنْهَا » (2 تيموثاوس 2: 22).

الهروب من الخطية ليس ضعفاً، بل هو قمة الفضيلة والقوة، لأنه يثبت أن القلب يكره الدنس. هروب يوسف الصديق من امرأة فوطيفار كان سر نجاته؛ وهنا نتساءل: أيهما كان أقوى، شمشون الذي غلب الأسد وهزمته شهوته، أم يوسف الذي غلبته الظروف وانتصر على شهوته؟ يقول القديس أمبروسيوس: "إن شمشون الشجاع غلب الأسد، لكنه لم يستطع أن يغلب هواه... وأحرق أكداس الظالمين، ولكن أحرقه لهب اللذة المحظورة".

اضبط حواسك وأفكارك واستأسرها لطاعة المسيح، واعلم أن مسببات السقوط قد تأتي من الفكر، أو الحواس، أو من تجارب الشيطان الذي يغير شكله إلى شبه ملاك نور ليسقط البشر.

To those captivated by the pleasure of sin and bound by the chains of iniquity, breaking free from its dominion may seem impossible. However, the remedy is simple if you lay your sins before God, relying not merely on your human strength, but on His divine grace. God is able to liberate you, just as He liberated countless others before you, provided that you resort to Him and possess a genuine desire for repentance. As Saint Augustine wisely remarked: "God who created you without you, will not save you without you." Repentance is an act of free will.

Once you abandon sin, do not look back or regret leaving it. Remember Lot’s wife, who looked back at the desires of the past and was turned into a pillar of salt as a warning. Hence, the Lord Jesus commanded the paralytic after healing him: "See, you have been made well. Sin no more, lest a worse thing come upon you." (John 5:14).

1. Examine Yourself "But when he came to himself, he said.." (Luke 15:17)

If you desire to overcome your sins, you must first sit with yourself to recognize your true spiritual state and acknowledge your errors. Ask yourself: What have you gained from a life of sin that consumed your health and youth? Resolve to abandon wickedness wholeheartedly, and be assured that God will strengthen you.

Satan trembles at your self-examination and opposes it fiercely, fearing that self-reflection will drive you to repentance and break his grip over you. When the Prodigal Son came to himself, he realized his utter destitution and the abundance of his father's house, declaring: "I will arise and go to my father, and will say to him, 'Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you.'" (Luke 15:18). All true repentance begins with self-awareness. Saint Isaac the Syrian highlights this spiritual law, saying: "If the spirit of negligence falls upon us, let us sit alone, gather our thoughts, and examine precisely the cause of this negligence to rectify it."

2. Contemplate the Bitter Consequences "For the wages of sin is death..." (Rumans 6:23)

• Had Adam known that eating from the tree would expel him from Paradise, he would never have eaten.
• Had Cain known that murdering his brother would make him a cursed wanderer on earth, he would never have killed him.
• Had Gehazi known that his love for money and deceit would inflict him and his descendants with the leprosy of Naaman, he would never have pursued it.

After every stumble, ask yourself: What have I gained, and what have I lost? You will find that you have lost fellowship with God, whose joy surpasses any earthly or fleshly desire. Sin offers a path decorated with transient pleasures, but its destination is the lake of fire. A wealthy businessman once shared his testimony: "I was famous for my illicit relationships, but I never tasted peace. I lived in constant conflict with my wife, who attempted suicide twice. My business almost collapsed, and I lost millions. I lived in absolute despair until God intervened."

3. Flee from the Triggers and Temptations of Sin "So he left his garment in her hand, and fled..." (Genesis 39:12)

The angel commanded Lot: "Escape for your life! Do not look behind you." (Genesis 39:12). Similarly, Saint Paul advises his disciple Timothy: "Flee also youthful lusts." (2 Timothy 2:22).

Fleeing from sin is not a sign of weakness; rather, it is the pinnacle of spiritual virtue and strength, demonstrating a heart that refutes defilement. Joseph the Competent’s flight from Potiphar’s wife was the secret to his purity. We may ask: Who was truly stronger—Samson, who defeated a lion but was conquered by his lust, or Joseph, who was betrayed by his brothers but conquered his desires? Saint Ambrose wrote: "The mighty Samson overcame a lion, yet he could not conquer his own passion... He burned the fields of the oppressors, but was consumed by the fire of a forbidden pleasure."

Guard your senses and bring every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ. Beware of the triggers of sin, whether they arise from internal thoughts, straying senses, or the deceptions of Satan, who transforms himself into an angel of light to deceive humanity.
