Karas Al-Muharraqyالمجد لله في الأعالي وعلى الأرض السلاملقد ولِدَ أنبياء وملوك كثيرون، لكنَّ السماء لم تزفهم كما زفت المسيح يوم ميلاده العظيم. فالملائكة أبت أن تترك رئيس جند السماء وحده، فتركت مسكنها ونزلت إليه لتُعلن عن بهجتها بميلاده العجيب! فأشرقوا بنورهم وشقوا ببهائهم الظلام، وحوّلوا الليل نهاراً والأرض سماءً، وأعلنوا أنَّ ابن الله جاء ليضئ على الجالسين في الظلمة.
المجد لله في الأعاليلقد مجّدت الملائكة الله لأنَّها رأت شيئاً عجيباً: إلهاً قدوساً يترك الأمجاد السماوية ليشترك معنا في الطبيعة البشرية، بادئاً حياته في حقارة المذود. لقد رأت الملائكة الشمس تقف بواسطة يشوع، ولكنها الآن ترى "شمس البر" خالقها في مذود للبهائم! رأت العُليَّقة تشتعل ولا تحترق، والآن ترى اللاهوت متحداً بالناسوت. إن بيت لحم تُرينا الإله الأزليّ الغير محدود متَّحداً بجسد بشريّ، وهذا التواضع هو الذي غزا قلب الإنسان وامتلكه إلى الأبد بحُبّه وحنانه.
على الأرض السلامكان السلام يملأ الفردوس قبل السقوط، ولكن منذ أن دَخَلتْ الخطية نُزع السلام وملأ الخوف القلوب. ظل العالم طوال العهد القديم يرجو إتيان "رئيس السلام" ليعيد الطمأنينة. وعندما ظهرت الملائكة، أعلنت أنَّ كلمة الله قد نزل ليعطي الأمم خبز الحياة ويمتلئوا سلاماً. وكما قال أحد الآباء: "لمَّا أخطأنا فارقنا السلام، ولمَّا أتى المسيح جاءت الملائكة تُعلن عن عودة السلام". لقد ترك المسيح للمؤمنين سلامه، لا منصباً ولا غنىً ولا شرفاً.
بالناس المسرةلقد سُر الله بنا وأعلن محبته بميلاد ابنه، وهذا يدفعنا للفرح الدائم. التجسّد لا يمنع الجروح البشرية، لكنه يشفيها بلمسة الأيدي الطاهرة. يجب أن يفرح الخاطئ لأن يسوع جاء ليمحو خطاياه، ويترنم الحزين لأن دموعه ستتحول إلى لؤلؤ. لقد وجد الإنسان حل مشكلة الألم عند مغارة بيت لحم؛ فمنذ ميلاد المسيح، أصبح الألم صليباً ذا جناحين يطير بهما الإنسان ليحلق في أمجاد السماء.
دعوة للفرحيا كنيسة المسيح، اذهبي إلى بيت لحم لتبتهجي! هيا أيها الشيوخ والرجال والعذارى، افرحوا جميعاً لأن باب المجد قد فُتح. وأنت يا طفل بيت لحم، حوّل أحزاننا إلى مسرّة، وأرجع بصوتك الحنون الحياة إلى قلوبنا المائتة، لكي نهتف مع الملائكة قائلين: " المجد لله فـي الأعالي وعلى الأرض السلام وبالناس المسرة ".
Glory to God in the Highest, and on Earth PeaceMany prophets and kings were born, but heaven did not welcome them as it welcomed Christ on His great birth. The angels refused to leave the Commander of the Heavenly Host alone; they left their dwellings and descended to announce their joy at His wondrous birth! They shone with their light, piercing the darkness with their splendor, turning night into day and earth into heaven, proclaiming that the Son of God had come to shine upon those sitting in darkness.
Glory to God in the HighestThe angels glorified God because they saw something wondrous: a Holy God leaving heavenly glories to share in our human nature, beginning His life in the humility of a manger. The angels saw the sun stand still through Joshua, but now they see the "Sun of Righteousness," their Creator, placed in a humble manger for animals! They saw the burning bush that was not consumed, and now they see Divinity united with humanity. Bethlehem shows us the Eternal, Infinite God united with a human body, and it is this humility that conquered the human heart and possessed it forever with His love and tenderness.
On Earth PeacePeace filled Paradise before the Fall, but since sin entered the world, peace was stripped away and fear filled hearts. Throughout the Old Testament, the world hoped for the coming of the "Prince of Peace" to restore tranquility. When the angels appeared, they announced that the Word of God had descended to give the nations the Bread of Life, so they might eat, be satisfied, and be filled with peace. As one of the Fathers said: "When we sinned, peace left us; and when Christ came, the angels arrived to announce the return of peace." Christ left His peace to the believers—not a position, nor wealth, nor honor.
Goodwill Toward MenGod was pleased with us and declared His love through the birth of His beloved Son, and this drives us to perpetual joy. The Incarnation does not prevent human wounds, but it heals them with the touch of pure hands. The sinner must rejoice because Jesus came to cast his sins into the sea of forgetfulness, and the sorrowful must sing because his tears will turn into pearls. Humanity found the solution to the problem of pain at the cave of Bethlehem; since the birth of Christ, pain has become a cross with two wings, with which man flies to soar in the glories of heaven.
A Call to JoyO Church of Christ, go to Bethlehem to rejoice! Come, elders, men, and virgins, rejoice all of you because the door of glory has been opened. And You, O Child of Bethlehem, O Newborn of the manger, turn our sorrows into joy, and restore life to our dead hearts with Your tender voice, so that we may cry out with the angels: "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill toward men."
