♥️ خلال الحرب الأمريكية اليابانية، عملت كمهندس كبير في ناقلة نفط في البحرية التجارية في ميناء الهند، وكان ناقلة النفط الخاصة لا بد من تسليمها إلى إحدى الجزر في المحيط الهادئ، حيث كانت القوات الجوية الأمريكية تتواجد.

♥️كنا في محنة لأن الغواصات اليابانية كانت تطاردنا. وناقلتنا محاطة بألغام مضادة للطوربيد، واليابانيون يمكن أن يتسللوا من الأسفل ويقصفونا. وأصبح الموت لا مفر منه.

♥️طاردتنا أيضًا عاصفة قوية. فارتفعت الأمواج إلى السماء فصرخت في القبطان والبحارة: ادعو الله أن يوفقنا! يا الله القدير، احفظ أرواحنا، لا ينقذنا إلاَّ أنت.

♥️ ببطء بدأ البحر يهدأ. ولكن أتت عاصفة أخرى رهيبة، فصرخ القبطان: كل شيء في مكانه! وحدث حريق في محركات الديزل. فأخرجت مطفأة الحريق وبدأت في صب الماء في محركات الإشعال.

♥️ فجأة، غمرتني النار وكنت سأموت من الاختناق فصرخت إلى الله وطلبت شفاعة العذراء، فاختفى الاختناق وأخذت نفساً عميقاً وشرعت في إطفاء الحريق.

♥️ نزل طاقم السفينة بأكمله إلى غرفة المحرك. والدموع في عيني، وعانقني البحارة وقبلوني. لقد أخبرتهم: إن ما حدث كان معجزة! لقد أنقذني الرب أنا وسفينتنا من موت محقق.

♥️ It Was a Miracle

♥️ The Story of the Old Sailor, Constantine Haropoulos
♥️ During the American-Japanese war, I worked as a chief engineer on an oil tanker in the merchant navy in the Port of India. Our tanker had to be delivered to one of the islands in the Pacific Ocean, where the US Air Force was stationed.

♥️ We were in distress because Japanese submarines were hunting us. Our tanker was surrounded by anti-torpedo mines, and the Japanese could sneak from underneath and bomb us. Death became inevitable.

♥️ A powerful storm also pursued us. The waves rose to the sky, so I cried out to the captain and the sailors: Pray to God to grant us success! Almighty God, save our souls, none but You can rescue us.

♥️ Slowly, the sea began to calm down. But another terrible storm came, and the captain shouted: Everything in its place! A fire broke out in the diesel engines. I pulled out the fire extinguisher and began pouring water into the ignition engines.

♥️ Suddenly, the fire engulfed me, and I was about to die of suffocation. I cried out to God and sought the intercession of the Virgin Mary; the suffocation vanished, I took a deep breath, and proceeded to extinguish the fire.

♥️ The entire ship's crew came down to the engine room. With tears in my eyes, the sailors embraced and kissed me. I told them: What happened was a miracle! The Lord saved me and our ship from a certain death.
